Sandtrooper – Macrobinoculars – 3D Printing, Completed

A New Toy…

The base part of the front piece…

And, the top part of the front piece…

Next will be the assembly of the parts. I just wanted to make a statement, or two, about these print files. They are nice looking files, but they do have some issues. My main complaint is that the walls are extremely thin. The main body could be easily crushed with your hands if you wanted to. Also, there really should be some sort of alignment pins, blocks, or something included to help assemble the main body to the back piece. I do understand that these are free files, and if I had the proper skills, I would try to improve them for the original author. But, unfortunately, I’m not that good with 3D rendering.

Sandtrooper – Macrobinoculars – 3D Printing

A New Toy…

A while back, I ran across some 3D print files for the Sandtrooper Macrobinoculars. They’re not really “canon” for any of my costumes, but I like they way they look. So, I decided to build them…

The first part off the printer. The little “tube” things didn’t print very well. Two of them actually fell off during printing. I’m thinking I can replace them all with wooden toothpicks, or something…

Then, a lot more small parts to finish off the day…
