Scout Trooper – Vest – Velcro Re-Alignment

Getting Things Better Aligned…

The Velcro strip that holds the Codpiece seems to be a bit low, causing the Codpiece to sit lower than it should…

Here’s the original positioning of the Velcro…

After a quick test fit, it seems the Velcro just needs to come up a little bit…

I then ripped out the stitches…

And pinned the Velcro in its new position…

Then it was sewn onto the Vest…

And, here’s the new position of the Velcro…

Scout Trooper – Vest – Alterations

For a Better Fit…

The Vest seems a bit loose, so I’m going to attempt to alter the fit…

I made some new measurements…

And then transferred them to the sides of the Vest…

I then ripped out the side seams…

Remarked the seams, and pinned them in place…

After sewing the new seams…

The sleeve actually has a small part at the bottom now. This should hopefully help keep the Shoulder Armor strap in place…

The resized Vest…

Scout Trooper – Weathering

Let’s Get Dirty!

While my DLT-19x is printing and we’re having unseasonably warm weather today, I will take advantage and add the weathering to my Armor…

For the weathering, I’ll be using the suggested Tamiya Matt Black spray paint, along with a few other colors that I hope will work.

Because I’ve never really done this type of weathering before, I decided to start with the Boots…

The Boots now have a bit of weathering…

And, the rest of the Armor has been weathered, as well. I also weathered the Codpiece and Cummerbund/Pouches but forgot to take a photo…

Scout Trooper – Cummerbund & Pouch Final Assembly

    Putting It Together…

    Time to install the Pouches…

The Pouches are supposed to sit about one inch from the center ribs…

I tried on the Cummerbund several times and made some markings until I came up with what looked to be the correct positioning…

And, the Pouches were pinned into place…

Then, I ran a single stitch across the top of each one…

While I have the white thread in the sewing machine, I will add some loop Velcro across the top center…

And at each pouch attachment point which should help secure the Cummberbund into position…

The hook Velcro for the center of the Cummerbund…

Then, the hook Velcro for above the Pouches…

Scout Trooper – Codpiece, Construction, Completed

    The Final Soft Part…

    Time to wrap this up…

I need to finish this piece by completing the top seam, and then adding some Velcro here and there…

First, the top is prepped by removing some of the batting…

Which enabled me to properly fold over and pin the top hem…

    Which was then sewn closed…

I’ll then need to add a strip of loop Velcro across the top of the Codpiece…

This will connect to some hook Velcro at the bottom of the front of the Vest…

The loop Velcro has been attached to the top of the Codpiece…

I also made some marks across the middle of the Codpiece where the Belt rests. This is where I need to attach some hook Velcro to help support the Belt assembly…

Here, the Belt support Velcro has been added…

Scout Trooper – Gloves – Minor Mod

Let’s Make These More Screen Accurate…

    Sleekness counts…

The CRL states there should be “no flare”…

However, with the “zipper” area as is, the little flap things tend to “flare” while the Gloves are worn…

To fix this, I’ll be adding some small “tack” stitches into the existing stitch line…

This seems to fix the issue…

    Both Gloves, now fully completed…
