Jawa #2 – Face Mask & Robe

Major Jawa Revamp…

Since my cadet outgrew his Jawa outfit and has began wearing his Mudtrooper outfit, my wife was wanting to start wearing it. So, I’m revamping all of the parts to fit her. The larger size should also fit my cadet, if he wants to switch over to a Jawa at a troop, as well…

The hat that I used for my son’s costume used a child sized hat, so I bought an adult size hat…

Then, removed the bill…

Luckily, the existing Face Mask fit my wife, so I can just reuse that part. I drilled out the rivets that held the Face Mask portion to the hat…

Then, I riveted the Face Mask to the bigger hat…

And, stitched the wiring and battery holder to the hat…

Then, the black cloth was hot glued to the hat…

A while back, I had started accumulating items to make a Jawa costume for my wife. When my son outgrew his costume, I was hoping it would fit my wife. But, that wasn’t the case, so luckily I had bought this monk cloth…

To prep it for dying, the raw edges need to be secured with a quick zig zag stitch…

Both raw edges zig zag stitched…

Monk cloth in the washing machine. Almost ready to dye…

When I bought the monk cloth, I also bought some dye. So, time to get that all mixed up…

Dying, complete, but the color looks WAY too orange. I believe it’s because, at the time, I was only able to find the brown in powdered dye. I will need to get more brown, and do a redye…
