Description
Since there are no photos of the little “rank bar greeblie” anywhere outside of screen grabs from the Mandalorian series, there is no standard consensus as to how the buttons were constructed.
After much research, I found that these pieces seem to be the most controversial as to what “found parts” (if any) were actually used on the real prop in the Mandalorian series. I have seen endless ideas and methods being thrown out there, but none of them look “right” to me. None of the Button Bars being sold online (at Etsy, etc.) look screen accurate, to me.
In my opinion, the red buttons are definitely sitting in/on some sort of black base, and the white part is definitely not just the inside part that comes with the red button.
I decided to try and come up with something that looks like what I’m seeing in the screen grabs. I did a little work in my 3d designer software and was able to come up with what I feel are the most screen accurate button greeblies available (in this photo, I’m holding my greeblies and comparing them to a screen grab from the Mandalorian series):
Here is my Button Bar using my greeblies fully finished (but not yet weathered) installed on my personal Tote Bag:
I am offering up the full set, which includes two (2) of the black bases, one (1) white center button, and one (1) galvanized metal nail head for the white button:
The black bases and white center button are 3d printed in high quality PET-G, which is more heat resistant than PLA.
PLEASE NOTE: these are raw prints (with print lines), that will need to be smoothed, painted, and weathered to match the on screen version.
For more information on how I go about smoothing out the print lines, paint the greeblies, and build the actual Button Bar, you can view my build here.
