Scout Trooper – DLT-19x Targeting Rifle – Print Smoothing

Prep Work…

Now begins the long process of smoothing out all of the print lines…

First, I did a rough sanding, and then applied a coat of this flat black primer…

After the primer was dry, I did a wet sand with 220 grit sandpaper…

Recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about how much better this stuff is at filling in deep holes. In the past, I’ve always used the spot putty, which requires several thin coats to avoid cracking. We’ll see if this is the case…

I applied the plastic metal to fill in all of the deep holes…

Then, once that filler was dry, it got a wet sand using 220 grit sandpaper. The plastic metal does seem to fill a lot better, so I’ll probably keep using it…
