Scout Trooper – Gloves – Deconstruction

Let’s Make These Screen Accurate…

These gloves will need some work to make them screen accurate, but I love a challenge…

I decided to work on one glove, first, to get an idea of just what needs to be done. The first thing i did was pull out the lining insert. This gave me access to see exactly how these gloves are put together.

I then removed all of the finger batting. I don’t think this will really be needed. I then proceeded to remove the foam padding that was sewn to the leather parts…

With all of the batting and foam removed, it’s time to start breaking this down into separate pieces…

This is the back side of the “ribbed” knuckle area. These gloves have 6 ribs, while the screen used gloves have 4 ribs. I will need to do redo this area, so…

Using a seam ripper, I opened this section up.

Next is the fingers. Screen used gloves have suede on the first two fingers, and no kind of design on the other two. I will be replacing the first two with suede, and I thought that maybe I could just remove the stitch design from the other two, but the holes in the leather are permanent. So, I will just need to replace that piece with new leather.

I found some leather on eBay, so I purchased it. We’ll see when it arrives if it will work for what I need.
